Contact lenses are a great way to correct your vision. Visit us for an exam and fitting to get started.
Contact lenses have been around for a while, though they have evolved rapidly over time. Ideal for people who can’t wear glasses (be it for work or personal reasons) or simply don’t want to change their appearance when wearing corrective lenses, contact lenses are a great option for just about anyone.
With the sheer amount of contact lenses available today, it can be hard to know which options are the best for you. This is where we come in: during a comprehensive contact lens exam we assess your eyes, their overall health, and their shape.
Having accurate information about your eye is important for a few reasons, with one of the biggest reasons being comfort. We work with you to find the ideal comfort and style of lens, ensuring you enjoy comfortable contacts that enhance your vision and quality of life.
If you’re thinking it’s time for you to move into contact lenses, request an appointment to visit us for a comprehensive exam and fitting.
During the eye exam and subsequent fitting appointments we will:
One of the most common questions we get asked is whether or not someone is a good fit for contact lenses. The answer is this: probably, but it depends. We have to consider your overall eye health. If you suffer from allergic conjunctivitis or dry eye, contact lenses will be uncomfortable to wear and potentially even cause problems long-term. If these issues are addressed ahead of time, it may be possible for you to be a contact lens wearer.
Generally, annual follow ups are needed to ensure the prescription is still appropriate and that there are no developing concerns we need to address.
Contacts are extremely safe to wear, especially once you’ve found the appropriate fit and style/brand. However, some people do experience complications (such as irritated eyes or conjunctivitis). In those instances we work to find a better fit/brand, or failing that, we advise that you discontinue contact use.
This varies, as there are many different types of contact lenses. We will walk you through the best options for you, their costs, care, and other important information.
Unless you have a type of contact lens designed specifically for overnight wear, no. This will cause irritation and significant discomfort and can lead to vision loss.
Conventional contact lenses need to be replaced once or twice per year. They generally are only used for difficult prescriptions and have higher maintenance in comparison to disposable lenses. Disposable contact lenses are designed to be thrown away after each use, though some may last up to four weeks and still be labelled as “disposable”. These lenses are more hygienic and convenient compared to conventional lenses.
